Twenty-four building plans approved in February

     The Buildings Department approved 24 building plans in February, with eight on Hong Kong Island, seven in Kowloon and nine in the New Territories.

     Of the approved plans, five were for apartment and apartment/commercial developments, seven were for commercial developments, four were for factory and industrial developments and eight were for community services developments.

     In the same month, consent was given for work to start on 18 building projects that, when completed, will provide 50 609 square metres of gross floor area for domestic use, involving 523 units, and 133 883 sq m of gross floor area for non-domestic use. The department has received notification of commencement of work for 10 building projects.

     The department also issued 20 occupation permits, with one on Hong Kong Island, 15 in Kowloon and four in the New Territories.

     Of the buildings certified for occupation, the gross floor area for domestic use was 11 741 sq m, involving 125 units, and 35 798 sq m was for non-domestic use.

     The declared cost of new buildings completed in February totalled about $1.5 billion.

     In addition, nine demolition consents involving nine building structures were issued.

     The department received 2 916 reports about unauthorised building works in February, and issued 272 removal orders on unauthorised works.
