The Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office (HKETO) in Singapore today (April 16) presented the premiere of "Wonder Mama" at the Hong Kong Movie Night in Singapore 2015 held at the National Museum of Singapore.

The movie, directed by Clifton Ko and starring Petrina Fung, is being presented at the 5th Beijing International Film Festival. It was previously shown at the Taipei Golden Horse Film Festival and the East Winds Film Festival in the UK.

At the premiere opening, the Director of the HKETO in Singapore, Mr Fong Ngai, thanked the audience for their support for Hong Kong movies. He also praised the efforts of Hong Kong's film artists and directors for constantly pursuing their dreams and visions, thereby making Hong Kong a vibrant hub for movie lovers in the region.

"Thanks to our creative talents and entrepreneurs, Hong Kong has a wide array of creative cultural activities catering to different interests and lifestyles," Mr Fong said.

"The creative industries, including film, account for 4.9 per cent of our GDP, amounting to HK$98 billion, having grown at an annual average of 9.4 per cent in the past decade," he said.

"The Hong Kong Government sees it as important to enhance the development of the creative industries through a series of measures including a further injection of HK$200 million into the Film Development Fund to support local film production, nurturing young directors and other production talents, and promoting Hong Kong movies overseas."

"Wonder Mama", together with six other Hong Kong movies, namely "Dot 2 Dot", "The Midnight After", "Flowing Stories", "My Voice, My Life", "Imagining Evan Yang" and "Wong Ka Yan", will be screened among others from the Mainland, Taiwan and Singapore in the upcoming Singapore Chinese Film Festival 2015 to promote Chinese films and cultures.

After the screening, director Clifton Ko shared his insights and ideas with about 250 guests from the government, cultural, academic, business and media sectors attending the premiere.
