Alice Theatre Laboratory to re-run Beckett's play "Endgame"
***********************************************************

Alice Theatre Laboratory will re-run Samuel Beckett's play "Endgame" in June. As significant as "Waiting for Godot", "Endgame" is regarded as a milestone in the evolution of Western theatre at the crossroads of modernism and postmodernism.

"Endgame" depicts the life of four people who survived a catastrophe and are stranded in a cellar: one is blind and incapable of walking; one is able to stagger but unable to sit down; and a couple without feet live in two ash-bins. Struggling in their refuge, they live on their conversation and the tense relationship between the master in the group and his servant. As the situation worsens and the relationships reach the verge of breakdown, how far can they go?

The director of "Endgame"(Re-run) is Andrew Chan, winner of Best Director at the Hong Kong Drama Awards and Hong Kong Theatre Libre. The cast includes Pak Yiu-charn, Leung Chi-chung, Kan Lap-keung and Chan Shui-yu.

Alice Theatre Laboratory is devoted to experimental performances. In the 2008-2014 seasons, "Seven Boxes Possessed of Kafka" (premiere, rerun, Shanghai tour, Beijing tour and Macau tour), "Fear and Misery of the Third Reich" (premiere, rerun and Beijing tour), "Beckett on Stage II: Reminiscence & Traces", "The Maids" ,"1001 Nights of Pasolini", "One Hundred Years of Solitude" (premiere and Beijing tour), "Endgame" and "Ten Utterances from Dreams" were critically acclaimed and were nominated for and received a number of awards at the Hong Kong Drama Awards and Hong Kong Theatre Libre. The company was also invited to perform in the Mainland for cultural exchange. CNNGo praised Alice Theatre Laboratory as one of the five most watchable Hong Kong theatre companies.
