Free admission tickets for 5th Hong Kong Games opening ceremony all distributed
*******************************************************

The Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) announced today (April 10) that 2,160 free admission tickets for the 5th Hong Kong Games (HKG) opening ceremony had all been distributed.

A spokesman for the LCSD said, "We are much encouraged by the overwhelming response to the opening ceremony, which illustrates the public's appreciation of and support for the Games."

The opening ceremony, which marks the official launch of the 5th HKG, will be held at the Hong Kong Coliseum, Hung Hom, at 7.30pm on April 25 (Saturday).

There will be a host of wonderful programmes at the ceremony, including performances by the City Chamber Orchestra of Hong Kong, pop singers, a luminous dragon dance, Latin dance, street dance and rope skipping.

The spokesman advised members of the public who have admission tickets to attend the show as scheduled. Those who are unable to turn up on the day due to unforeseen circumstances may pass the tickets to relatives and friends so as to avoid wastage.

He also reminded ticket holders to allow ample time for travelling to the venue in order to prevent a last-minute rush before admission.

The 5th HKG is organised by the Sports Commission and co-ordinated by the Community Sports Committee with the 18 District Councils; the Sports Federation and Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China; relevant National Sports Associations; and the LCSD as co-organisers. The Hong Kong Jockey Club is the principal contributor.

Details of the Games are available at the dedicated website, www.hongkonggames.hk.
