Visitor arrivals in Ching Ming festive period decrease

     The Immigration Department has received media enquiries following a media report today (April 9) about the increase in the total number of visitors to Hong Kong during the Ching Ming festive period compared with last year. A spokesman for the Department stated today that the total number of visitors arriving in Hong Kong in the period, including Mainland visitors and foreign visitors, had decreased compared with last year.

     The total number of visitor arrivals during the Mainland Ching Ming festive period this year (April 4 to 6, 2015) was around 468 000, representing a 12.4% decrease compared with the same festive period last year (April 5 to 7, 2014). The number of arrivals of Mainland visitors and other visitors were 359,500 and 108,500 respectively, which had decreased by 14% and 6.6% compared with last year.      The relevant figures mentioned in the media report today included the arrivals of Hong Kong residents and did not reflect the actual situation of visitor arrivals.
