The Government announced today (April 2) appointments to committees of the Financial Services Development Council (FSDC). The Chief Executive has appointed 34 members to serve on the five committees under the FSDC. All appointments will be effective from April 5, 2015, to January 16, 2017, both dates inclusive.
Among the 34 committee members, 21 are re-appointed while 13 are new members. The new members are Mr Dean Chisholm, Ms Ding Chen, Mr Dennis Ho Chiu-ping, Mr Christoph Hoch, Mr Gary Hwa, Ms Lau Ka-shi, Mr Brian Li Man-bun, Mr Mark Saunders, Ms Wang Hsueh-ming, Dr Wang Tao, Ms Winnie Wong Chi-shun, Mr Nick Young and Mr Derek Yung Kai-ming.
The Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury, Professor K C Chan, said, "Under the guidance of the Council Chairman, Mrs Laura M Cha, the FSDC has conducted research on a wide range of topics and prepared many useful reports on the development of the financial services sector in Hong Kong over the past year.
"The Council has a rich agenda of projects in the year ahead. I am confident that the FSDC will continue to achieve its mission and objectives to advance the development of Hong Kong as an international financial centre."
Professor Chan also expressed gratitude to the 13 retiring committee members, namely Mr Christopher Chan Shiu-lun, Mr Clement Chan Kam-wing, Ms Lena Chan, Mr Vincent Duhamel, Mr Brett Graham, Mr Huang Haizhou, Dr Bill Kwok Chi-piu, Mr Ivan Kwok Chun-pong, Mr Larry Kwok Lam-kwong, Dr Lee George Lam, Mr Allen Lo Chun-lun, Mr John C Wilkinson and Professor Wong Siu-fun for their contribution to the work of the FSDC over the past two years.
The FSDC was established in 2013 as a high-level, cross-sectoral advisory body to engage the industry in formulating proposals to promote the further development of Hong Kong's financial services industry and to map out the strategic direction for development. Five committees have been formed to study specific areas of the financial services industry in depth and make proposals on development initiatives.
