CE to visit Wuhan and Shanghai

     The Chief Executive, Mr C Y Leung, will visit Wuhan and Shanghai from April 8 to 10 to officiate at the opening ceremony of the Economic and Trade Office of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region in Wuhan (WHETO) and the third plenary session of the Hong Kong/Shanghai Economic and Trade Co-operation Conference.

     Mr Leung will officiate at the launch ceremony of the long-term office of the WHETO and the dinner reception to commemorate the opening of the WHETO on April 8. He will also meet with leaders of the Hubei Provincial Government and visit Wuhan Asia Heart Hospital.

     On April 9, Mr Leung will visit Wuhan University in the morning and depart for Shanghai in the afternoon. On the next day, he will attend the Hong Kong/Shanghai Economic and Trade Co-operation Conference with a number of Principal Officials of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government and will also visit the China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone. While in Shanghai, Mr Leung will also meet with leaders of the Shanghai Municipal Government.

     The Financial Secretary, Mr John C Tsang; the Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury, Professor K C Chan; the Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Mr Gregory So; the Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs, Mr Raymond Tam; the Secretary for the Civil Service, Mr Paul Tang; and the Director of the Chief Executive's Office, Mr Edward Yau, will attend the Co-operation Conference with the Chief Executive. Mr Tam and Mr Yau will also join the Chief Executive's visit in Wuhan.

     Also included on the visit will be the Director of Information Services, Mr Patrick Nip; the Private Secretary to the Chief Executive, Mr Carlson Chan; and the Assistant Director (Media), Mr Anson Lai.

     Mr Leung will depart for Wuhan in the morning on April 8 and return to Hong Kong from Shanghai in the evening on April 10. During his absence, the Chief Secretary for Administration, Mrs Carrie Lam, will be the Acting Chief Executive.
