CAAMFest 2015, a film festival presented by the Center for Asian American Media in San Francisco, features three new Hong Kong film productions in its 11-day festival, which runs from March 12 to 22. The Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in San Francisco sponsored the presentation of "Dot 2 Dot" by Amos WHY, "Flowing Stories" by Jessey Tsang, and "My Voice, My Life" by Ruby Yang. All three filmmakers attended the festival.

In addressing more than 100 guests at the Hong Kong Reception honouring the Hong Kong filmmakers yesterday (March 17, San Francisco time), the Director of the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in San Francisco, Ms Subrina Chow, thanked the festival organiser for the opportunity to be part of the festival.

Both "Flowing Stories" and "My Voice, My Life" are documentaries and both are by female directors. "Flowing Stories" is about lives linked across the globe by the memories and traditions of an old Hong Kong village. Ms Chow welcomed Hong Kong film director, Jessey Tsang, back to the San Francisco Bay Area as she was in town about two years ago to present her other award-winning film at another international film festival.

"My Voice, My Life", on the other hand, is about the young people of Hong Kong. One of the youths featured in the documentary, Lin Tsz-lok, was also present at the reception. Lin lost his sight a few years ago, but was still able to participate in the musical. He, together with Oscar-winning director, Ruby Yang, shared their stories and filming experience at the reception.

"Dot 2 Dot" is the first feature film by director Amos WHY, who has been nominated for the Best New Director Award in the upcoming 34th Hong Kong Film Awards.

"We are proud of our film industry and film talents. To support the future development of the industry, our Financial Secretary has just announced in his Budget speech late last month that he would make a further injection of $200 million (US$ 25.6 million) into our Film Development Fund, which helps to finance small to medium-budget Hong Kong productions. We will also improve the different funding schemes, with the aim of boosting the volume of local film production and nurturing more film talents," said Ms Chow.
