Liquor Licensing Board members visit licensed liquor premises (with photo)

The following is issued on behalf of the Liquor Licensing Board:

     Members of the Liquor Licensing Board, led by Board Chairman Mr Stephen Yau, visited a number of premises with liquor licences in Yuen Long and Mong Kok early this morning (March 15) to learn more about the operation of different types of premises with liquor licences and enforcement actions by the Police.

     During the visit, members were briefed by representatives of the Police on various issues related to the regulation of premises with liquor licences, including crowd control, traffic flow, law and order, fire safety and noise problems.

     Representatives from the Fire Services Department, the Buildings Department and the Environmental Protection Department also joined the visit.

     The Board issued 1 006 new licences and renewed 6 482 liquor and club liquor licences last year.

     Apart from the Board Chairman, others taking part in the visit were Vice-chairman Dr Kong Wai-yeung and Board members Ms Fan Chui-wah, Mr Ip Ngo-tung, Mr Ko Chun-wa, Ms Lau Mi-chun, Mr Shum Hon-wo, Mr Wong Ka-wo and Mr Wong Kit-lung.

     They were joined by the Permanent Secretary for Food and Health (Food), Mrs Cherry Tse; the Director of Food and Environmental Hygiene, Miss Vivian Lau; the Deputy Secretary for Food and Health (Food), Mr Christopher Wong; the Deputy Director of Food and Environmental Hygiene (Environmental Hygiene), Ms Maisie Chan; and the Assistant Director of Food and Environmental Hygiene (Operations), Mr Li Ka-kei.
