Update on cluster of Multi-drug Resistant Acinetobacter cases in Queen Elizabeth Hospital

The following is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority:
¡@¡@The spokesperson for Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) made the following update today (March 13) regarding an earlier announcement on a cluster of inpatients with Multi-drug Resistant Acinetobacter (MDRA) in a male medical ward:
¡@¡@One more 68-year-old male patient in the ward was confirmed as infected with MDRA today. The patient had passed away earlier.
¡@¡@The QEH will continue with enhanced infection control measures and closely monitor the situation on the ward. The case has been reported to the Hospital Authority Head Office and the Centre for Health Protection for necessary follow up.
