As part of its ongoing efforts to attract overseas talents to Hong Kong, the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office, Brussels (Brussels ETO) reached out to the College of Europe in Bruges, Belgium and the Erasmus University in Rotterdam, the Netherlands to promote opportunities for overseas graduates.

On March 9 (Brussels time), Deputy Representative of Brussels ETO Miss Alice Choi briefed a group of master and bachelor students from the Erasmus University in Rotterdam, who will visit Hong Kong in end March/early April to conduct a comparative research in corporate law. Brussels ETO has also assisted the group in lining up meetings with the Companies Registry and Invest Hong Kong, among others.

At the briefing, Miss Choi elaborated on Hong Kong's unique advantages under the "One Country, Two Systems" principle since 1997, including the rule of law and its role as a gateway to Mainland China. She stressed that freedoms of expression, press and assembly were well-protected in Hong Kong under the Basic Law.

Miss Choi said the HKSAR Government welcomed talents, professionals and entrepreneurs from around the world to work and stay in Hong Kong with a view to enhancing the city's competitive edge in today's globalised economy. As Hong Kong is developing its legal services, in particular arbitration and dispute resolution services, there are plenty of opportunities for Dutch law graduates to establish their professional career in the city.  She also explained various talent admission initiatives including the Immigration Arrangements for Non-local Graduates and the Quality Migrant Admission Scheme.

On February 27, Miss Choi gave a similar briefing to another group of master students from the College of Europe in Belgium, who are following a European Union-China Relations course at the College and interested in pursuing PhD study in Hong Kong.
