At the invitation of the Chief Justice of the Court of Final Appeal, Mr Geoffrey Ma Tao-li, members of the Legislative Council (LegCo) Panel on Administration of Justice and Legal Services visited the Court of Final Appeal Building today (March 9) to meet with members of the Judiciary.
During the visit, LegCo Members exchanged views with the Chief Justice and the Chief Judge of the High Court Mr Justice Andrew Cheung, on issues of wide public concern, such as judicial independence, long court waiting times and provision of screens for complainants in sexual offence cases during court proceedings.
Apart from the meeting, LegCo Members also joined a tour of the Court of Final Appeal Building led by the Chief Justice.
Members participated in this visit included Panel members Dr Priscilla Leung (Chairman), Mr Dennis Kwok (Deputy Chairman), Ms Emily Lau, Ms Starry Lee, Mr Paul Tse, Dr Elizabeth Quat, Mr Tang Ka-piu, Dr Chiang Lai-wan and Mr Chung Kwok-pan; as well as non-Panel member, Mr Charles Peter Mok.
