Special traffic arrangements for public processions on Hong Kong Island

     Police will implement special traffic arrangements this Sunday (March 8) to facilitate two public processions to be held on Hong Kong Island.

From 12.00pm
------------
  
     The following roads will be intermittently closed:

- Eastbound Queensway between Des Voeux Road Central and outside MTR Admiralty Station Exit C1;and
- Fast lane of Garden Road flyover, if necessary.

From 2.40pm

A. Road closure

     The following roads will be intermittently closed:

- Rodney Street;
- Tamar Street;
- Eastbound Queensway between Tamar Street and Des Voeux Road Central;
- Southbound Murray Road between Queensway and Harcourt Road;
- Des Voeux Road Central between Pedder Street and Queensway;
- Westbound Harcourt Road between Harcourt Garden car park exit and Tamar Street;
- Eastbound Harcourt Road between Tim Wa Avenue and Tim Mei Avenue;
- Southbound Tim Wa Avenue (except vehicles heading for the Chief Executive¡¦s Office and Central Government Offices car park);
- Southbound Edinburgh Place between Lung Wo Road and Connaught Road Central; and
- The fast lane of Garden Road flyover, if necessary.

B. Traffic diversion

- Traffic along westbound Harcourt Road cannot turn left to southbound Rodney Street (except franchised buses);
- Traffic along westbound Harcourt Road near Harcourt Garden car park exit will be diverted to westbound Harcourt Road flyover;
- Traffic along eastbound Harcourt Road must turn right to southbound Cotton Tree Drive;
- Traffic along eastbound Queensway cannot turn left to northbound Tamar Street or northbound Rodney Street;
- Traffic along westbound Drake Street cannot turn right to northbound Tamar Street;
- Traffic along southbound Cotton Tree Drive cannot turn left to eastbound Drake Street;
- Traffic along westbound Harcourt Road cannot turn left to southbound Murray Road;
- Traffic along westbound Lambeth Walk must go straight to westbound Chater Road;
- Traffic along eastbound Des Voeux Road Central must turn left to northbound Pedder Street;
- Traffic along northbound Cotton Tree Drive will be diverted to northbound Tim Wa Avenue;
- Traffic along Lung Wo Road cannot enter Tim Wa Avenue (except vehicles heading for the Chief Executive¡¦s Office and Central Government Offices car park);
- Traffic along Lung Wo Road cannot enter southbound Edinburgh Place; and
- Traffic leading from Garden Road flyover to eastbound Queensway will be diverted to northbound Cotton Tree Drive, if necessary.

C. Restriction on access to / exit from car parks

     All car parks in the affected areas may be closed at short notice, if necessary. Vehicles may not be permitted to leave or access car parks along the procession routes during the road closure period.

     Actual implementation of the traffic arrangements will be made depending on traffic and crowd conditions in the areas. Motorists are advised to exercise tolerance and patience and take heed of instructions of the Police on site.
