CE to attend NPC session opening ceremony

     The Chief Executive, Mr C Y Leung, will visit Beijing from March 3 to 6. At the invitation of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, Mr Leung will attend the opening ceremony of the third session of the 12th National People's Congress in Beijing on March 5.

     While in Beijing, Mr Leung will also call on officials from central ministries. The Secretary for Transport and Housing, Professor Anthony Cheung Bing-leung; the Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury, Professor K C Chan; the Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs, Mr Raymond Tam; and the Under Secretary for Home Affairs, Ms Florence Hui, will join Mr Leung for respective meetings.
 
     Also joining the visit will be the Director of the Chief Executive's Office, Mr Edward Yau; the Director of Information Services, Mr Patrick Nip; the Private Secretary to the Chief Executive, Mr Carlson Chan; the Senior Special Assistant to the Chief Executive, Mr Chan Kin-ping; and the Assistant Director (Media), Mr Anson Lai.

     Mr Leung will depart for Beijing in the evening on March 2 and return to Hong Kong in the evening on March 6. During his absence, the Chief Secretary for Administration, Mrs Carrie Lam, will be the Acting Chief Executive.
