CSSA caseload for January

     The overall Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) caseload in January showed a drop of 574 cases, representing a decrease of 0.2 per cent when compared to that in December 2014, according to the latest CSSA caseload statistics released by the Social Welfare Department today (February 18).

     The total CSSA caseload at the end of January stood at 252 480 (see attached table), with a total of 380 036 recipients.

     Analysed by case nature, low earnings cases and unemployment cases registered month-to-month decreases of 1.5 per cent and 1.4 per cent to 7 471 cases and 18 384 cases respectively. Single parent cases and ill-health cases also showed decreases of 0.5 per cent and 0.3 per cent to 29 392 cases and 24 908 cases respectively.

     Old age cases remained steady at 149 169 cases. Permanent disability cases showed a slight increase of 0.1 per cent to 18 251 cases.
