Eighteen building plans approved in December

     The Buildings Department approved 18 building plans in December, with six on Hong Kong Island, six in Kowloon and six in the New Territories.

     Of the approved plans, eight were for apartment and apartment/commercial developments, four were for commercial developments, two were for factory and industrial developments and four were for community services developments.

     In the same month, consent was given for work to start on 16 building projects that, when completed, will provide 117 599 square metres of gross floor area for domestic use, involving 1 442 units, and 105 814 sq m of gross floor area for non-domestic use. The department has received notification of commencement of work for 12 building projects.

     The department also issued 17 occupation permits, with three on Hong Kong Island, seven in Kowloon and seven in the New Territories.

     Of the buildings certified for occupation, the gross floor area for domestic use was 230 531 sq m, involving 2 577 units, and 69 096 sq m was for non-domestic use.

     The declared cost of new buildings completed in December totalled about $7 billion.

     In addition, seven demolition consents involving seven building structures were issued.

     The department received 2 900 reports about unauthorised building works in December, and issued 665 removal orders on unauthorised works.
