"The Carnival of the Animals" concerts by Pan Asia Symphony Orchestra to be staged in March
************************************************************

The Pan Asia Symphony Orchestra, with music director Dr Yip Wai-hong and guest conductor Johnny Ng, will give two concerts in March especially targeting young music lovers. The highlight of the programme will be Saint-Saëns' "The Carnival of the Animals", to be performed by two pianos and orchestra, and it will be accompanied by animation in the concerts. The piano soloists will be two talented young students of the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, Ho Shun-yin and Wong Sze-yuen.

Apart from the above, the programme will include Mozart's "Divertimento in D, K136" and "Eine kleine Nachtmusik, K525".

Dr Yip Wai-hong is an eminent music educator. He served Hong Kong Baptist University as the Head of its Music and Fine Arts Department for almost 30 years. He founded the Pan Asia Symphony Orchestra, the Hong Kong Children's Choir, Yip's Children's Choir and the Hong Kong Children's Symphony Orchestra with an aim of nurturing young talents in Hong Kong.

Johnny Ng received a Conducting Fellowship with the American Academy of Conducting at Aspen (AACA) in 2013 and made his debut with the AACA Orchestra in July of the same year. He is currently serving as the Music Director for the Hong Kong Pops Orchestra, Resident Conductor for the Hong Kong Children's Symphony Orchestra, and Guest Conductor for the Hong Kong Polytechnic University Orchestra and the Pan Asia Symphony Orchestra.

The Pan Asia Symphony Orchestra is a highly organised orchestra that aims to promote music among the general public, and especially the young generation in Hong Kong. For more than 30 years, the orchestra has given several hundred performances at Hong Kong City Hall and in town halls and civic centres. Many internationally acclaimed conductors and soloists have been invited to perform with the orchestra. By regularly performing popular music and organising educational talks, the orchestra has successfully introduced serious music and Chinese orchestral music to the public, and at the same time has brought about an awareness of the indigenous culture of the people.

Presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, "The Carnival of the Animals" - Concert by Pan Asia Symphony Orchestra will be staged at 8pm on March 21 (Saturday) at the Auditorium of Tsuen Wan Town Hall and at 3pm on March 22 (Sunday) at the Auditorium of Yuen Long Theatre.
