A group of enthusiastic emerging artists have completed the Art Specialist Course 2014-15 after 10 months of intensive training. Starting from tomorrow (February 6), their artworks will be displayed at the "Art Specialist Course 2014-15 Graduation Exhibition" to be held at the Hong Kong Visual Arts Centre till February 16.
The opening ceremony of the exhibition was held today (February 5). The officiating guests were the Assistant Director (Heritage and Museums) of Leisure and Cultural Services, Mr Chan Shing-wai; the co-ordinators of the Art Specialist Course, Mr Tsang Kwong-choi (Chinese Calligraphy) and Mr Danny Lee (Sculpture); and the Head of the Art Promotion Office, Dr Lesley Lau.
Led by experienced artists as instructors, the participants developed their creativity and appreciation for art through workshops, tutorials, talks and visits. In the exhibition, graduates will not only showcase their learning outcomes, but also communicate their thoughts with the public.
Organised by the Hong Kong Visual Arts Centre of the Leisure and Cultural Services Department since 2001, the Art Specialist Course emphasises theory, practice, appreciation and criticism and is designed in a way that provokes thinking and unlocks the creative potential of the students. It aims to provide holistic learning and practising opportunities for art lovers who wish to develop their individual artistic direction for future pursuits.

The Hong Kong Visual Arts Centre is located at 7A Kennedy Road, Central. It is open daily from 10am to 9pm and is closed on Tuesdays. Admission is free.
