The remarks by the Chief Executive quoted by Apple Daily today (February 4) in its coverage on the examination of the establishment of the Innovation and Technology Bureau (ITB) by the Legislative Council (LegCo) Finance Committee (FC) is completely untrue.
The title and content of the report quoted the Chief Executive saying that there is no need for LegCo members to raise questions on the funding of the ITB. In fact, what the Chief Executive said at his media stand-up session yesterday before the Executive Council meeting is that, judging from the FC's duties, LegCo members need not filibuster and raise questions in the way seen last week.
The Chief Executive's Office expressed regret over Apple Daily's false report.
