Contractors fined for violation of safety legislation

Samake Construction Company Limited and Yik Tak Construction Engineering Limited were fined $50,000 and $35,000 respectively at Shatin Magistrates' Courts today (February 2) for violation of the Construction Sites (Safety) Regulations. The prosecutions were launched by the Labour Department.
The case involved a fatal accident that occurred on December 1, 2013 in Fo Tan. A plasterer fell to his death from the 18/F down to the 6/F while he was working on a bamboo scaffold erected on the external wall of the building.
