Hong Kong Customs seizes suspected methamphetamine at Shenzhen Bay Control Point (with photos)

     Hong Kong Customs yesterday (January 29) seized about 3.1 kilograms of suspected methamphetamine at Shenzhen Bay Control Point and arrested a woman. The market value of the drug was about $1.44 million.

     Customs officers intercepted an incoming female passenger at Shenzhen Bay Control Point at noon yesterday and found the suspected drug in the inner lining of two rucksacks in her suitcase.

     The arrested woman, aged 31, claiming to be a merchant, was charged with one count of trafficking in a dangerous drug and will appear at the Tuen Mun Magistrates' Courts tomorrow (January 31).

     Under the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, drug trafficking is a serious offence. The maximum penalty is life imprisonment and a fine of $5 million.
