Order for new boundaries of Western District Public Cargo Working Area gazetted today
**********************************************************

The Port Control (Public Cargo Working Area) Order 2015, which declares the new boundaries of the Western District Public Cargo Working Area (PCWA), was gazetted today (January 30).

The Order is made by the Secretary for Transport and Housing and is to take effect on a day to be appointed by him by notice published in the Gazette.

A spokesman for the Transport and Housing Bureau said that a small portion of approximately 217.6 square metres (11 x 19.78 metres) in the Western District PCWA will be released to assist the Central and Western District Council in developing a waterfront promenade and open space at the Western Wholesale Food Market (WWFM) for the public under the Signature Project Scheme. The released area sits next to the subject site at the WWFM. The new boundaries will also be revised with the latest government land allocation at its entrances/exits with an additional area of approximately 320 square metres.

The spokesman added that the operation of the existing cargo operators at the Western District PCWA will not be affected by the change.

With the revised boundaries, the Western District PCWA will occupy a total area of approximately 40 300 square metres with a usable sea frontage of 1 052 metres.

The Order will be tabled at the Legislative Council on February 4.
