Beijing Handian Pharmaceutical Co Ltd opened its first tea house, Phoenix Tea, in Hong Kong today (January 25), to make use of the city's international status to promote Chinese rock tea culture globally.

Located in the busy tourist area of Tsim Sha Tsui on Granville Road, the new tea house comprises an area of 1,900 square feet offering an outlet for tea lovers to build networks and exchange ideas. It also provides a VIP area and an education corner for organising exhibitions, courses and seminars on Chinese rock tea culture.

The consultant of Phoenix Tea Company Ltd, Ms Andes Wong, said, "Hong Kong has a long history of tea culture and drinking tea is already part of our daily life. However, there are few shops that offer a relaxing environment for tea lovers to appreciate the quality of rock tea. We hope we can fill this niche with our first outlet in Hong Kong."

She added, "Hong Kong has the advantage of being an international tourist city with a large number of international and Mainland Chinese visitors. Our group will use the tea house as its regional headquarters to promote rock tea culture globally, as well as find business opportunities for the group's health services in the Asia-Pacific region."

Associate Director-General of Investment Promotion Mr Andrew Davis welcomed the opening of Phoenix Tea in Hong Kong. He said, "Hong Kong is a city where East meets West. Its combination of strategic location, low tax regime and international business environment makes it the ideal place for Mainland companies to use the city as the springboard to 'go global'. We wish every success to Phoenix Tea in Hong Kong and hope that it will make use of our city's business advantages to promote its rock tea culture globally.กจ
