The Chief Executive, Mr C Y Leung, met the visiting Chairman of the China Securities Regulatory Commission (CSRC), Mr Xiao Gang, at Government House tonight (January 21) to exchange views on issues of mutual concern.
Mr Leung expressed his gratitude to the CSRC for the smooth launch of the Shanghai-Hong Kong Stock Connect. Noting that Hong Kong is a major international financial centre as well as the leading global financial centre of our country, Mr Leung said that the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government would capitalise on this dual identity and further promote the diversification of the financial services in Hong Kong to complement our country's move towards financial liberalisation.
Mr Leung said he hoped that the CSRC could continue to support Hong Kong's role as the "super-connector" to enhance the connections between the Mainland and the world on the financial front and contribute to our country's development.
