Fatal traffic accident in Tin Sum

     Police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in Tin Sum this afternoon (January 19) in which a 57-year-old man was killed.

     At about 6pm, a bus driven by a 57-year-old man was travelling along Tai Chung Kiu Road towards Ma On Shan, while a public light bus, a taxi and a private car were travelling along Tai Chung Kiu Road towards Tai Wai. When the bus turned right to Sha Kok Street, the four vehicles reportedly collided. Another bus passing by the scene was hit by debris of railings.

     Sustaining serious head injuries, the 57-year-old taxi driver was rushed to Prince of Wales Hospital in unconscious state and he was certified dead at 7.10pm.

     Twelve males and seven females aged from 9 to 79 were injured in the accident. They were sent to Prince of Wales Hospital and Alice Ho Miu Ling Nethersole Hospital respectively for treatment.

     The 57-year-old bus driver was arrested for dangerous driving causing death and is being detained for further enquiries.

     Investigations by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, New Territories South are underway.
