Entries invited for flower show plant exhibits competition

     The Hong Kong Flower Show 2015, presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD), will be held in Victoria Park for 10 days from March 20 to 29. This year's flower show features "When Blossoms Dance" as the main theme and the oncidium is the theme flower.

     Members of the public are invited to enrol for the plant exhibits competition. Applications are free of charge and will remain open until January 28.

     The competition, comprising Open and School categories, is divided into 15 sections with 94 classes. The sections include orchid, Chinese cymbidium, potted plant, cactus and succulent, foliage and carnivorous plant, African violet, bonsai-type plant, floral arrangement in Western style and Oriental manner, floral art by schoolchildren, primary and secondary school potted plant growing/nursing, and the school garden plot competition.

     Section winners will receive trophies. The Hong Kong Flower Show Cups will be awarded to the best exhibits in the Open and School categories. A prize presentation ceremony will be held during the show at Victoria Park.

     Completed entry forms should be submitted in person or by post to the Secretariat, Show Committee of the Hong Kong Flower Show 2015 (11/F, Leisure and Cultural Services Headquarters, 1-3 Pai Tau Street, Sha Tin), or by fax (2691 7264) on or before January 28.

     Entry forms and rules of the competition are available at the following locations:

(1) the Secretariat of the Show Committee of the Hong Kong Flower Show 2015;
(2) Green Education and Resource Centre (1/F, Kowloon Park Office, 22 Austin Road, Tsim Sha Tsui);
(3) District Leisure Services Offices of the LCSD; and
(4) Public Enquiry Service Centres of the Home Affairs Department; or
(5) downloaded from the LCSD website www.lcsd.gov.hk.

     The flower show is a major annual LCSD event to promote horticulture and the awareness of greening. Each year, it provides an opportunity for local people and horticulture lovers from all over the world to appreciate the beauty of flowers and share their experiences in horticulture. The last show attracted more than 550,000 visitors and over 200 organisations from 16 countries.

     The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust is the Major Sponsor of this year's flower show.
