Talented young Hong Kong artist Jo Leung will stage her new dance work,"37¢XC", in February. The production is part of the New Force in Motion series presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department.
While couples spend their Valentine's Day together, Leung will show what it feels like to be single and alone. She has also taken the bold move of launching "37¢XC", which forms part of her "Singular" series, at 8pm on February 13 and 14 (Friday and Saturday) and 3pm on February 14 and 15 (Saturday and Sunday) at the Black Box Theatre of the Jockey Club Creative Arts Centre.
Using the initial contact between two people as a starting point, Leung explores the tenderness and sacrifice of a man-woman relationship and the freedoms, serenity and even dark thoughts that come with being alone. One's body temperature may be "normal" when alone, yet one may still feel uncomfortable. Clothing alone isn't enough to correct the body's self-regulation system.
The production is choreographed and performed by Leung. Other dancers include Gabbie Chan, Elaine Kwok and Skinny Ng.
Tickets priced at $160 (free seating) are now available at URBTIX. Half-price tickets are available for senior citizens aged 60 or above, people with disabilities and their minders, full-time students and Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) recipients (limited tickets for CSSA recipients available on a first-come, first-served basis). A maximum discount of 20 per cent is offered for the group booking package.
