The spokesperson for Princess Margaret Hospital (PMH) made the following announcement today (January 16):
Seven patients (aged 76 to 87) in a female medical and geriatric ward at Lai King Building have presented with fever and respiratory symptoms since January 13. Appropriate viral tests were arranged and the results tested positive for Influenza A. One of the patients passed away on January 16 due to underlying illness, while the others are being treated under isolation. They are all in a stable condition.
The hospital has stepped up infection control measures in the ward and the condition of the other patients is under close surveillance.
The cases have been reported to Hospital Authority Head Office and the Centre for Health Protection for follow up.
