Man arrested for murder

     Police today (January 14) arrested a 64-year-old man who was suspected to be in connection with a murder case in Lok Ma Chau this afternoon.
 
     At about 4.41pm today, Police received a report from a staff member of an elderly home on Castle Peak Road ¡V Kwu Tung in Lok Ma Chau that two male inmates aged 55 and 64 disputed over trivial matters. The staff member made a report again at about 4.45pm that the two men were separated by other staff members and no assistance was needed.
 
     At about 4.47pm, the staff member made another report that the 55-year-old man felt sick and collapsed. Police officers sped to the scene and the 55-year-old man was rushed to North District Hospital where he was certified dead at 6.21pm.
 
     Initial investigations revealed that the two men had pushed each other during the dispute.
 
     Police arrested the 64-year-old man in connection with the case. He will be detained overnight for further enquiries.
 
     Post-mortem examinations will be conducted tomorrow (January 15) to ascertain the cause of death.
 
     Active investigations by the District Crime Squad of Border District are under way.
