Youth Band Marathon to be staged at HK Cultural Centre Piazza this Sunday (with photos)
*******************************************************

The annual Youth Band Marathon, showcasing more than 20 bands and dance teams to give an energetic seven-hour concert, will be staged at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre Piazza this Sunday (January 11) from 2pm. Admission is free.

With Mr Wong Chi-chung and Mr Jacky Lui as emcees, the concert will also feature three guest performing groups, namely the five-member rock group De Tesla, singer-songwriter Jing Wong and Friends, and the band NewYouthBarberShop, to bring fresh and original music to the public.

Independent rock group De Tesla writes songs with themes on modern society. The group has performed in several concerts including the two "Barter Concert" shows and has received an enthusiastic response from audiences. Jing Wong, who graduated from Central Saint Martins College of the University of the Arts London, is one of the artists at People Mountain People Sea. His music style is influenced by blues, folk and rock and his song "This is a Love Song for Yourself" was one of the top hits on Radio Television Hong Kong's charts. NewYouthBarberShop comprises three lively post-90s youths, and their songs have high hit rates on YouTube. Their performances have extended to singing on the Mass Transit Railway, on buses, inside elevators and elsewhere in order to bring entertainment and laughter to the public across the city.

There will also be music and dance performances by some 20 local youth bands and dance groups. In addition, a market will be set up selling handicrafts such as leather items, ornaments, carpets and fabric products, displaying the creativity of young artists.

Youth Band Marathon is presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, with Caritas Hong Kong, the Hong Kong Young Women's Christian Association, the Renaissance Foundation, the Boys' & Girls' Clubs Association of Hong Kong and Youth Outreach as programme partners.
