Over 600 young musicians to perform in Music Office's Youth Music Marathon

     The Music Office of the Leisure and Cultural Services Department will present the Youth Music Marathon from 2pm to 5pm on January 11 (Sunday) and 17 (Saturday) at Sha Tin Town Hall Plaza and the Hong Kong Cultural Centre's Piazza C respectively. More than 600 youth musicians from nine ensembles of the Music Office, including a choir, will perform a variety of Chinese and Western music, spending a music-filled afternoon with the audience.

     Groups to perform at Sha Tin Town Hall Plaza are the Music Office Children's Choir, the Music Office Youth Brass Band, the Hong Kong Junior Chamber Ensemble, the Island Youth Strings and the Kowloon Youth Chinese Orchestra. Performing at Piazza C of the Hong Kong Cultural Centre will be the Kowloon Youth Strings, the Kowloon Youth Symphonic Band, the New Territories Youth Strings and the New Territories Youth Chinese Orchestra.

     The programmes will include the traditional Chinese pieces "Flower Drum Song" and "Dance of the Golden Snake"; film music from "Pirates of the Caribbean"; various pieces of dance music, such as "Hungarian Dance No. 4" and "Arabian Dances"; and classical music from Bach, Mozart, Beethoven and more.
