| The 2015 Village Representative Election starts today (January 4). The Electoral Affairs Commission (EAC) chairman, Mr Justice Barnabas Fung Wah (first left); the Deputy Director of Home Affairs, Mr Patrick Li (first right); EAC member, Mr Lawrence Lok Ying-kam, SC (second right) and EAC member, Professor Fanny Cheung Mui-ching (third left), visit the ballot paper sorting station at Hin Keng Neighbourhood Community Centre in Sha Tin. The Village Representative Election is being held on three consecutive Sundays from today, with 1 779 candidates participating in the polls. While 944 candidates have been returned uncontested, 835 candidates will compete for 420 seats. |
