The Civil Aid Service (CAS) Long Service Medals Presentation Ceremony 2015 was officiated by the CAS Commissioner, Dr Ernest Lee; the CAS Deputy Commissioner (Operations), Mr Lam Kwok-wah; and the CAS Deputy Commissioner (Administration), Dr Kennedy Wong, at CAS Headquarters today (January 4).
A total of 70 officers and members, who have served the CAS for over 30 years, were awarded the Long Service Platinum Medals this year. There were 43, 74 and 80 officers and members awarded with Gold, Silver and Bronze Medals respectively. Dr Lee thanked them for their long-term participation in CAS activities during their spare time to serve the community.
CAS members gave a demonstration of rescue techniques, such as ladder hinge rescue from height, clearance of tree blockage and mountain rescue, after the ceremony.
In addition, the CAS Training School Commandant, Mr Leung Chi-tim, announced that the CAS recruitment exercise for 2015 has started. A total of 250 officers and members will be recruited. The deadline for application is January 12. Details and the application form can be obtained from the CAS website at www.cas.gov.hk.
