Fatal traffic accident in Kwai Chung

     Police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in Kwai Chung this morning (December 31) in which a 48-year-old man was killed.

     At about 11.24am, a medium-goods-vehicle (MGV) driven by a 51-year-old man was travelling along southbound Chun Pin Street. When turning left into Ta Chuen Ping Street, it reportedly knocked down the man who was crossing the road with a trolley.

     The man was trapped under the MGV and rescued by firemen. Sustaining serious multiple injuries, he was rushed to Yan Chai Hospital in unconscious state where he was certified dead at 12.56pm.
  
     The driver was arrested for dangerous driving causing grievous bodily harm and is being detained for further enquiries.

     Investigations by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, New Territories South are underway.
