The Chief Executive, Mr C Y Leung, today (December 30) expressed his profound sadness at the passing of Dr Hari Naroomal Harilela.
"Dr Harilela was a successful entrepreneur and devoted much effort to the development of the hotel and real estate sectors in Hong Kong. He was also a renowned philanthropist and made tremendous contributions to the tertiary education sector.
"Dr Harilela was well-respected and highly regarded by all in the community. On behalf of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, I would like to extend my deepest condolences to Dr Harilela's family," the Chief Executive said.
Dr Harilela was awarded the Grand Bauhinia Medal in 2009.
