Members of the public are invited to visit the Exhibition of Secondary School Students' Creative Visual Arts Work (2014/15), which will be held from tomorrow (December 30) to January 20 at the Education Bureau (EDB) Kowloon Tong Education Services Centre.

The exhibition, organised by the Arts Education Section, the Curriculum Development Institute of EDB, aims to display and acknowledge secondary school students' accomplishments in visual arts creation, enable students and teachers to learn from each other, and enhance the learning and teaching effectiveness of the Visual Arts curriculum. This year, around 400 pieces of artwork have been selected for exhibition from more than 1,200 entries submitted by 142 secondary schools. The exhibits cover various themes and a wide range of media such as drawing, painting, printmaking, media art, photography, sculpture, ceramics and design.

In order to encourage more students of different ages to submit their entries, participants are categorised into two age groups - 12 to 14 years old, and 15 years old or above. In each age group, gold prizes, silver prizes and certificate of merits are awarded to artworks of four media, namely 2-Dimensional Work, 3-Dimensional Work, Chinese Painting and Calligraphy, and Media Art.

The adjudicators selecting the exhibits and awarded entries are art professionals, namely, Dr Eliza Au Kit-oi, Mr Chan Kam-shing and Mr Tang Hoi-chiu, as well as representatives of the Arts Education Section. The selection criteria include creativity, aesthetics, manipulation of techniques and media, as well as communication.

In addition, the EDB collaborates with the Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority in exhibiting samples of artworks and scripts of the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination in Visual Arts (2014) in order to support the implementation of the senior secondary Visual Arts curriculum and assessment.
