Sha Tin Festival Youth Baseball Invitation Tournament Final cum Fun Day (with photos)

     The Sha Tin Festival 2014 - Youth Baseball Invitation Tournament Final cum Fun Day was held today (December 28) at HKTA Shun Yeung Primary School, Ma On Shan. The event aimed to promote baseball and encourage residents to do more exercise.

     The six teams participating in the youth baseball invitation tournament included players from Hong Kong, Guangdong, Taiwan and Japanese residents in Hong Kong. After a titanic struggle, "Gold Phoenix" defeated "Platinum Phoenix" to become the champion.    

     In addition, the fun day featured game booths, baseball and performances involving clowns, magic and the Shatin Philharmonic Orchestra were held at the school, filling it with a joyful ambience.

     Guests including the Financial Secretary, Mr John C Tsang; the Chairman of Sha Tin District Council, Mr Ho Hau-cheung; the District Officer (Sha Tin), Ms Cora Ho; the Honorary Life President of Sha Tin Sports Association (STSA), Mr Lee Kwong; the Chairman of Sha Tin Festival Committee 2014 (STFC2014), Mr Jacko Lee; the District Leisure Manager (Sha Tin) of the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, Mr Cheung Wan-ching; the Headmistress of HKTA Shun Yeung Primary School, Ms Leung Mei-ling; and the Vice-chairman of the STFC2014, Mr Mok Kam-kwai officiated at the launch ceremony. Mr Tsang had a chit-chat with ex-players of the Sand Martin Youth Baseball Team, sharing their achievements with the spectators and played a game with the current Sand Martin Team.

     Co-organised by the STFC2014, STSA and the Sha Tin District Office, the event was supported by HKTA Shun Yeung Primary School and the Hong Kong Little League.

     Under the theme "We are Sha Tin", the Sha Tin Festival 2014 is being held from September 8 this year to March 1 next year. During the festival, a wide range of cultural, leisure, sports, arts and caring activities are being organised to showcase the diverse characteristics of new town life and the uniqueness of Sha Tin District. Residents are encouraged to take part in the community activities to strengthen their sense of belonging to the community.
