Girl arrested for infanticide in Tin Shui Wai

     Police yesterday (December 24) arrested a 17-year-old girl in suspected connection with an infanticide case in Tin Shui Wai.

    At about 12.15pm on December 20, Police received a report from the girl¡¦s 48-year-old father that a plastic bag containing a newborn baby girl was found inside the washroom of his residence in Tin Heng Estate.  Police sped to the scene and the baby was certified dead at the scene.

    Initial investigations revealed that the 17-year-old girl gave birth to the baby.  She felt unwell and was admitted in Tuen Mun Hospital on December 19.

    The 17-year-old girl was arrested for infanticide yesterday in Tin Shui Wai and is being detained for further enquiries.  Initial post-mortem was conducted on December 23 but the cause of death of the baby girl could not be established pending further examinations.

    Investigations by the District Crime Squad of Yuen Long District are under way.
