The overall Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) caseload in November showed a drop of 948 cases, representing a decrease of 0.4 per cent, when compared to that in October, according to the latest CSSA caseload statistics released by the Social Welfare Department today (December 24).
The total CSSA caseload at the end of November stood at 253 825 (see attached table), with a total of 382 193 recipients.
Analysed by case nature, low earnings cases registered a month-to-month decrease of 1.9 per cent to 7 653 cases. Unemployment cases and single parent cases also showed decreases of 1.7 per cent and 0.5 per cent to 19 002 cases and 29 612 cases respectively. Old age cases and permanent disability cases both dropped by 0.1 per cent to 149 270 cases and 18 263 cases respectively.
Ill-health cases remained steady at 25 011 cases.
