Young dancers spread anti-drug messages at Dance Peer Platform 2014 (with photos)

     More than 150 youngsters gathered at the Hong Kong Jockey Club Drug InfoCentre (DIC) this afternoon (December 13) to showcase their dancing skills in the anti-drug activity Dance Peer Platform 2014. Their wonderful performances gained warm applause from the audience.

     Jointly organised by the Narcotics Division of the Security Bureau, the Action Committee Against Narcotics (ACAN) and the DIC, the activity aims to encourage young people to develop healthy hobbies and a positive lifestyle and stay away from drugs. The activity provided a platform for young people to showcase their talents while also enabling the youngsters and members of the public to feel the energy and optimism of a drug-free life.

     Eighteen dance teams from nine non-governmental organisations joined the event today. Some of the participants were former drug abusers who now lead a healthy life with confidence after taking up dance training.

     Dance teams attending the event included Eternal Flame Crew and Dancing Ace from Youth Outreach; Divas, HP Max and ST DANSO from the Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups; Twinkle from the Caritas District Youth Outreaching Social Work Team ¡V Southern; Light Up and Devil C from the Hong Kong Children and Youth Services Tai Po District Youth Outreaching Social Work Team; Espress, Dancing Queen and Rockz Elements from the Chinese Young Men's Christian Association of Hong Kong Kwai Tsing and Tsuen Wan Youth Outreaching Social Work Team; Remix Girls and SARS from the Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups Wong Tai Sin/Sai Kung District Youth Outreaching Social Work Team; E Din from the Hong Kong Young Women's Christian Association Tseung Kwan O Integrated Social Service Centre; MT Crew, Unlimited and Centimeter from the Hong Kong Children and Youth Services Ma On Shan Youth Outreaching Social Work Team; and LMC from the Evangelical Lutheran Church Hong Kong North District Youth Outreaching Social Work Team.

     Officiating guests at the event were Principal Assistant Secretary for Security (Narcotics) Miss Rosalind Cheung and a member of the ACAN Sub-committee on Treatment and Rehabilitation, Mr Wilson Chan.
