Official ceremony to commemorate the Nanjing Massacre (with photos)

     The Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region held an official ceremony in commemoration of the victims who died in the Nanjing Massacre and those who were killed during the Japanese invasion. The ceremony was held at the Redoubt Courtyard, Hong Kong Museum of Coastal Defence today (December 13).

     The Chief Executive, Mr C Y Leung, attended the ceremony and laid a wreath.

     Also present at this morning's ceremony were a Judiciary representative, senior government officials, members of the Legislative Council, members of the Executive Council, representatives of war veteran groups and members of the community.

     To enhance the public's understanding of the historical background of the Nanjing Massacre, the Museum of Coastal Defence is staging an exhibition on the Nanjing Massacre from today until January 7, 2015.  Admission to the Museum is free today. The same exhibition is also being held at Tsuen Wan Town Hall, Central Government Offices at Tamar, Revenue Tower and Sha Tin Government Offices from today till December 31, and at Cheung Sha Wan Government Offices from December 17 to 31.
