Update on cluster of Rotavirus cases in Queen Elizabeth Hospital

The following is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority:

     The spokesperson of Queen Elizabeth Hospital gave the following update today (December 5) regarding an earlier announcement on Rotavirus cases in an infant ward:

     Another 11-month baby girl in the infant ward had presented with diarrhoea symptoms. Appropriate tests were arranged and the test results were positive for Rotavirus. The baby concerned is being treated under isolation with stable condition.

     Infection control measures of the ward concerned have already been stepped up according to prevailing guidelines. All other babies in the ward are under close medical surveillance.

     The case has been reported to the Hospital Authority Head Office and the Centre for Health Protection for necessary follow-up.
