Girl arrested for infanticide in Sau Mau Ping

     Police arrested a 15-year-old girl suspected to be in connection with an infanticide case in Sau Mau Ping on November 26.

    At about 12.44pm on that day, Police received a report that the 15-year-old girl and a newborn baby girl were brought to the United Christian Hospital for medical treatment. The baby girl was in unconscious state and was certified dead at 1.10pm on the same day.

    Police arrested the 15-year-old girl at the hospital that afternoon. Initial investigations revealed that the girl was suspected to have put the baby girl into plastic bags after she gave birth to it in the toilet of her residence in Po Tat Estate in the small hours of that day. Her father later accompanied her to hospital.

    The girl was arrested for infanticide. She has been released on bail and will report back in late January.

     Initial post-mortem was conducted today (November 28) but the cause of death could not be established pending further examinations

    Investigations by the District Crime Squad of Sau Mau Ping District are under way.
