WiFi service to be extended to Lands Tribunal, Labour Tribunal and Tuen Mun Magistrates' Courts

The following is issued on behalf of the Judiciary:

     The Judiciary announced today (November 24) that WiFi service will be extended to cover the Lands Tribunal, the Labour Tribunal and the Tuen Mun Magistrates' Courts with effect from December 1.

     The service was first introduced in the Wanchai Law Courts in February and later extended to cover the Court of Final Appeal, the High Court, and the Tsuen Wan, Eastern, Kwun Tong and Sha Tin Magistrates' Courts.

     With effect from December 1, court users, including members of the public, will be able to use WiFi services in the public areas including the courtrooms of the the Lands Tribunal, the Labour Tribunal and the Tuen Mun Magistrates' Courts.

     Such use would include the use in a suitable manner of text-based communications in courtrooms. In this connection, the Judiciary earlier issued the Practice Direction 32 and the Notice to Court Users on the use of information technology and text-based communications in courtrooms.
