SCED attends Asia-Pacific Conference of German Business in Vietnam (with photos)

     The Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Mr Gregory So, attended the 14th Asia-Pacific Conference of German Business in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, today (November 21). The theme of the Conference this year is "Understanding Trends and Perspectives."

     Mr So attended the opening ceremony of the Conference in the morning and joined the ministers of participating countries in the Ministers' Panel to discuss issues concerning the development of the world economy, the importance of maintaining a level playing field and sustainable development.

     On the sidelines of the Conference, Mr So held a bilateral meeting with the Vice Chancellor and Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy of Germany, Mr Sigmar Gabriel, and met with the Minister of Industry and Trade of Vietnam, Mr Vu Huy Hoang, to exchange views on issues of mutual concern. He also paid a courtesy call on the Chinese Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City, Mr Chai Wenrui.

     In the evening, Mr So officiated at the signing ceremony and dinner of the Agreement of Co-operation between the Hong Kong-Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry. He also met with representatives of the Hong Kong Business Association Vietnam to learn about the operations and business of Hong Kong enterprises in Vietnam.

     Mr So will continue to attend the Conference tomorrow (November 22).
