***********************************************************

The new edition of the booklet "This is Hong Kong" is now available as a reader-friendly mobile app which gives comprehensive insight into Hong Kong's unique features.

The app, for iPhones, iPads, Android phones and Android tablets, is particularly useful for potential visitors to Hong Kong and local residents who would like to introduce the city to friends, relatives and associates abroad or across the boundary.

Themed on the city's core attributes, it shows what makes Hong Kong a cosmopolitan, dynamic, diverse and secure place, highly connected to the rest of Asia and the world. The booklet app gives information about Hong Kong's latest achievements in science, business and sports in addition to its natural attractions. It also offers information about Hong Kong festivals, heritage and creativity, as well as snapshots of local people who have achieved world renown in various fields, and surprising trivia.

The app's augmented reality function triggers in-depth information when a user comes within 300 metres of places of interest covered. When the user clicks a pop-up on a place, it will present more information on that site.

An Internet version of "This is Hong Kong" is also available. Hyperlinks in all electronic versions lead users to websites on aspects of particular interest: heritage sites, theme parks, universities, museums, sports and arts spaces, local transport and more.

The mobile app, produced by the Information Services Department, is available in English, traditional Chinese and simplified Chinese versions. It can be downloaded via the following links:
