Local Cantonese opera virtuosi to perform two concerts with songs by Wong Yuet-sang

     A group of local Cantonese opera virtuosi will team up for two concerts in January next year featuring songs written by Wong Yuet-sang.

     The first show will take place at 7.30pm on January 16 (Friday) at the Auditorium of Tsuen Wan Town Hall. The programme will include "The Purple Phoenix Mansion", "Plucking the Tassels", "Rendezvous at River Luo in a Dream", "Eighteen Variations on a Hu Pipe Melody", "A Comedy of Errors in the Flower Fields" and "The Tragedy of Princess Lechang".

     The second performance will take place at 7.30pm on January 17 (Saturday) at the Auditorium of Yuen Long Theatre. The programme will feature "Kneeling by the Pond" from "Roaring of the Ferocious Wife", "The Farewell" from "The Sounds of Battle", "The Trial" from "The Injustice Done to Dou'e", "The Pledge" from "A Love Story", "Chasing after Her Husband" from "Di Qing" and "Drying Clothes by the Bonfire".

     Cantonese opera virtuosi performing at these concerts include Lee Lung, Lung Koon-tin, Sun Kim-long, Nam Fung, Wong Chiu-kwan and Tang Mi-ling.

     "A Concert featuring Cantonese Operatic Songs by Wong Yuet-sang" is presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department. Tickets priced from $100 to $220 are now available at URBTIX. Half-price tickets are available for senior citizens aged 60 or above, people with disabilities and their minders, full-time students and Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) recipients (limited tickets for full-time students and CSSA recipients are available on a first-come, first-served basis).
