Green technology startup Nanoleaf announced today (November 21) that the company's products have hit the Hong Kong retail market after the company set up an office in the city from which to expand globally.

Nanoleaf Co-founder and CEO Mr Gimmy Chu said that the Nanoleaf product is the world's leading energy-efficient LED light bulb. He said that Nanoleaf products are up to 88 per cent more energy-efficient in comparison to traditional incandescent light bulbs and lower the overall carbon footprint of consumers.

"We want to inspire people to adopt more energy-efficient technology. The best way to do this is by making products not only more energy-efficient, but also more aesthetically and functionally desirable," Mr Chu said.

"Hong Kong is an international city that fits our global marketing strategy. By basing here, we can showcase our technology to the world easily, given the millions of international and Mainland travellers that visit Hong Kong. Increasing environmental awareness in the Hong Kong market also offers us added business opportunities," he said.

Associate Director-General of Investment Promotion Mr Charles Ng said, "We are happy to see that another startup is using Hong Kong's enduring advantages to scale globally. We hope to bring more creative and innovative startups to the city, especially those that can offer more sustainable and environmentally friendly products like Nanoleaf does. We wish every success to the company and look forward to seeing more new Nanoleaf products."
