The following is issued on behalf of the Legislative Council Secretariat:
The Legislative Council Commission (the Commission) strongly condemns the violent acts of storming the Legislative Council (LegCo) Complex (the Complex) early this morning (November 19) causing severe damage to various parts of the Complex. The Commission urges the law-enforcing bodies to take prompt and decisive actions to arrest the culprits and bring them to justice.
Anyone who obstructs a LegCo Member going to or from the precincts of the Chamber commits an offence. The Commission has instructed the LegCo Secretariat to step up liaison with the Police and take appropriate measures to ensure the safety of LegCo Members and staff of the Secretariat entering and leaving the Complex, and the smooth conduct of meetings.
