Mongolian Chamber of Commerce opens in Hong Kong (with photo)
*******************************************************

The Mongolian Chamber of Commerce announced today (November 18) the opening of its Hong Kong office in an effort to further promote commerce between the two economies.

The Chamber operates as a non-profit organisation in Hong Kong, and its primary objective is to provide a platform on which members can forge better relationships with the business community in Hong Kong and keep informed of developments in their fields of interest.

The Chamber's Chairman, Mr Henry Lee, said that Hong Kong offers Mongolian businesses a strategic location from which to expand into Asia given its established role as Mainland China's economic gateway and its proximity to major Asian markets.

"Hong Kong is one of the largest initial public offering centres in the world. Our vision is to connect Mongolia's world-class projects with Hong Kong's capital market. It is ideal for Mongolian businesses, for example Mongolian resource and infrastructure companies, to raise funds in Hong Kong," Mr Lee said.

The Director-General of Investment Promotion, Mr Simon Galpin, welcomed the establishment of the Mongolian Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong. He said, "Over the years, Hong Kong has attracted an increasing number of Mongolian companies listing on our stock exchange. I hope that this trend will continue to grow as Hong Kong's role as China's international financial centre will keep evolving. We look forward to working with the Chamber to promote business links between the two places."
